Affirmation!

A-a-a-ffirmation! (once again, to the tune of Anticipation, sorry Carly)

Today I was conducting VTS with a group of fourth graders for the very first time, and who should walk in but my administrator. He does regular walk-through visits during the course of the day, but this time he stood and observed for far longer than usual. The students were thoroughly engrossed in the process of creating a powerful narrative, all kinds of revisions were taking place, my paraphrasing and linking felt second nature, everything fell into place just like we had been doing VTS forever.

After school my boss commented on how effective he thought the process was, "It's teaching them higher order thinking skills" were his exact words. Sweet, sweet music to my ears!
